The small hand mirror is made of ivoride, as is the death's head handle, which was from Spill's own walking stick and was donated by his granddaughter. Ivoride and xylonite are made of celulose nitrate, a form of celluloid developed by Alexander Parkes (1813-1890) in 1855.
