Whether you love him or hate him, and whether you find his ideas ridiculous or genius, Kanye West always has a lot to say. Recently, West had a White House meeting with Donald Trump. During this meeting, he showed the president designs for what Kanye suggested would be a hydrogen-powered successor to the Air Force One. The designs were taken from the masters project of a university student in 2012, without the student’s knowledge.

What is the iPlane 1?

Kanye West used his iPhone X to present to Trump the design for a plane that would be called the iPlane 1. The design was formulated by industrial designer Shabtai Hirshberg during his postgraduate studies at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.

Hirschberg revealed that while he did not know beforehand that his work was being presented by Kanye West, he found it to be a pleasant surprise that his work was being held in high esteem.

Why does Kanye West advocate the iPlane 1?

The photographs presented by Kanye West feature a jet with a wide, flat body and a transparent blue roof.

Kanye’s interest in the plane design stems partly from superficial matters. Kanye declared that the iPlane 1 “is what our president should be flying. If he don’t look good, we don’t look good. This is our president. He has to be the freshest, the flyest and have the flyest planes.”

Is the iPlane 1 a feasible concept?

Hirschberg noted that his design was intended to be more fantasy than reality. He admitted that the plane would probably require a lot of materials that have not yet been invented.

Hirschberg also did not think of the plane as being hydrogen-powered. This appears to be the idea of Kanye himself. It is not entirely unfounded, though, because prototype hydrogen-powered planes have already been designed. Regardless,Hirschberg noted that he would be happy to collaborate with Kanye if he decided to pursue this.
